The Latest News From Candace / Caroline :

April 20, 2010 meeting agenda:

 Old Business:

Trivia night was a success profiting approximately 1000.00 – we talked about raising the fee to 20.00 next year and charging spectators also – the food went over really good so maybe putting a donation bucket by the food next year would be a good idea.

A percentage of CNB’s donation of $5,000 will be given to each agency but the Board has not met on that just yet.

 New Business:

*  Roadblock is set for September 18th – we discussed having kids make posters for each site, we could  either do 4-H kids or girl scouts.

*  Antiquitie pictures are set for October 8-9 – Maggie is checking on First Christian Church for the  location  at next meeting we will have everything ready for you to sell tickets

* We discussed having another Turkey and Dressing Dinner at Happy Hearts in late August, I will let you  know a date when we have one.  If anyone knows of anything conflicting in August please let me know.

*  We are still gathering papers for the application for Bingo.

*  We voted on Sandy Dailey joining United Way.

A couple of things going on with our agencies:

The Guardian House is sponsoring a play called “Anyone of Us”.  It is written by women in prison that have killed their abuser.  It will be this Friday night at  The Community Center here in Metropolis at 7:00 p.m.  It costs 5.00 and a personal care item.  It is not for small children.  It will also be next Friday night at the Market House Theater at 7:00 p.m.  It will last 45 minutes.

Also on July 15th there is a lady swimming the Ohio river and she will be swimming thru metropolis on this date and they want people lining the shore with signs to support her. She is starting in Smithland and doing a documentary on the small towns she swims thru.

Doris Vogt   is putting on a program this summer that will feed kids from Spence Apts and Strickland Apts.  June 1 thru August 6th.  She is looking for a place to prepare the meals and also will need volunteers.  The hours that she will need volunteers is 10 am to 1 pm.  Monday – Friday.

Two Rivers will be holding a Champions for Children walk on May 15th at Shawnee Community College from 9 am to 1 pm.  Please call 618-833-7470 for more info.  They have a lot of nice activities planned.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, August 10th at 11:00 a.m. at El Tequila.

Thank you,

Candace Ginger
